SRS produced 27 plank frame windows as part of the restoration of this original 1760's cape in Duxbury, Ma. The sash were glazed with hand made reproduction glass so as to include the bubbles, "seeds" and waviness inherent to old glass. The detail photo shows the thick sill and significant projection of the plank frame beyond the siding that is a hallmark of this early type of construction. Note also the large wooden pegs that are used along with mortise and tenons to join the frame together.
Note projection of the plank window frame and mortise pegs in sill. |
